Fringed Tulips
by David Hutchinson
When I was at a Biergarten in Munich, I noticed some fuzzy tulips they had there. I’d never seen tulips like that before. When I got back home, I looked up what kind they were, and they were Fringed Tulips. I was fascinated by them, so I bought several different types and planted them in my backyard.
I joined the Artistic Floral Photography Facebook a while back and I was impressed by the floral photos on there. I thought I might try it. I decided on a high key photo, so I used a white bedsheet as a backdrop. It was right after it had rained and it was overcast, so I had my wife hold a flash on the background and another for the flowers.
I processed the image in Adobe Photoshop. I made the background completely white, moved one of the flowers to make them even, and used the Oil Paint filter to give it the texture
It was shot with a Nikon D750 with a Nikkor 105mm Micro lens. 1/200 sec @ F/10, ISO200, with 2 flashes.
