When I read the title

of our assignment,

I immediately went into creative mode and dug out some props and my gear.

A Black sheet for a backdrop on top of a card table

Two Sheets of blue gels

A clear sphere

Three finger lights attached to a paint stir stick

Blue Tack

Panasonic Lumix FZ300

Remote Shutter Release and Tripod

Set Up

I placed my card table against a door and taped the black sheet up about two feet on the door, draping the rest over the table. I then placed the gels side by side, flat on top of the black sheet on the table.

I used a tiny piece of blue tack on the bottom of the sphere to hold it in place on on of the blue gels.

Using more blue tack, I stuck the three finger lights on the last two inches of the stir stick, one above the other.

The tripod was set about to the level of the sphere. The camera was set at f5.6, 6 sec, ISO 200. The lights were then turned off so it was pitch black, then I held the stir stick above the sphere, then used the remote shutter release to capture the image as I moved the stick around the sphere for the 6 second exposure.

So much fun to play with!
